Biography
Composer Hyun-su Kim was selected as a new composer at the Korean Composer Award. He won numerous prizes at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition (Piano Solo, String Quartet), Seoul Music Festival, Ise-Shima International Composition Competition, Quebec International Music Competition, and Tallinn National University Competition in Estonia. He has also received training at the TIMF Academy (Unsuk Chin, Dieter Ammann), the Tchaikovsky Academy (Johannes Kreidler, Svetlana Lavrova, Mark Buloshnikov, Vladimir Gorlinsky, Vladimir Rannev), and masterclasses with Ivan Fedele. He has participated in the Pan Music Festival, Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival, East Asian Contemporary Music Festival, and URTIcanti Contemporary Music Festival. His compositions have been performed by various ensembles such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, Monbijou Quartet, Armed Forces Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble hanuibalam, Ensemble 201, Ensemble Dongsung, Moscow Ensemble, Ensemble N’caged, MBC Symphony Orchestra, CM Symphony Orchestra, and more. His works have been presented in Korea, Japan, Poland, France, Russia, Italy, the United States, and other countries.
